Rants for the hell of it

“The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.”

            —Herbert Spencer

Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle is upset that the late Charlie Kirk used a hurty word to describe the late George Floyd. Specifically, Mr. Kirk referred to Mr. Floyd as a “scumbag.” Newsflash for the willfully ignorant Mr. Ostler: George Floyd was a career criminal scumbag, and it’s okay for people to say so. It’s certainly not a character defect to hold the opinion that Mr. Floyd was a despicable individual. The actual character defect—and a harmful one at that—is to believe otherwise.

A far better person than Mr. Ostler can believe Mr. Floyd was a scumbag and still support the notion that law enforcement must have robust arrest and use-of-force policies, and that the death of a suspect in police custody be impartially investigated. But elevating Mr. Floyd to martyrdom and believing this contrivance is world-improving is retarded because it is based on the delusion that he was a saint and whose death somehow justified opportunistic hooligans to cause extensive death, destruction, and other harm to society. Does Mr. Ostler give a damn about the Black communities harmed due to post-Floyd BLM asshattery? Nope…

Joe Garofoli of the San Francisco Chronicle opened a recent article, “F-bombs, regrets: Harris’ book is bold and dishy,” with this gem of a first paragraph: “Reading Kamala Harris soon-to-be-released memoir about the “107 Days” of her historic presidential campaign is like traveling back to a time before our nation’s immigrants cowered in fear of being disappeared by masked federal agents, before free speech was in grave danger and when vaccines weren’t treated like poisons.”

There’s a lot of Woke bullshit to unpack in this one paragraph: (1) A nation must have immigration laws and these laws must be enforced. I’m sure there are laws which Mr. Garofoli likes, and he wants these enforced (e.g., it’s a safe bet he supports laws banning plastic grocery bags). (2) The Chronicle staff are fine-and-dandy with censorship when it’s done to those they don’t agree with. Did Mr. Garofoli speak out when President Trump was banned from Twitter or non-Woke speakers were silenced or otherwise canceled for their opinions? Nope. (3) The Covid fiasco, with its lies and mindless totalitarianism, which was enabled by lazy incurious journalists (e.g., Chronicle staff), resulted in fascist censorship, economic devastation, deliberate divisiveness, and, ultimately, widespread vaccine hesitancy for traditional vaccines.

The Chronicle staff fail to understand that these issues are actually nonpartisan. Many Democrats want immigration laws enforced, oppose censorship, and were aghast at our government’s jackbooted overreach in dealing with Covid. Rather than promote tribalism, Mr. Garofoli should engage in old school journalism and its healthy skepticism. Unfortunately, the Chronicle is bereft of such journalists, as they and other legacy media are a willing propaganda tool wielded by our overlords…

Even though non-Woke people would suffer terribly, I sometimes wish the Woke fools, including those at the Chronicle, would immediately get the world they falsely believe is paradise. I’m betting huge that shortly thereafter, there would be a collective “Uh oh” on their part…

Never forget that a significant number of our fellow citizens are pro-illegal immigration, anti-deportation (including those who’ve committed serious felonies while here), pro-child castration, pro-criminal, and want our energy supply destroyed. They are irredeemably deranged evildoers. They cannot be reasoned with or their minds changed…

I’ve watched several videos of a financial nature that claim a person with no debt and $1,000,000 in an IRA has a net worth of one million dollars and is, therefore, defined as a millionaire. Wrong. An IRA is pretax savings, and the person still owes taxes on it, thus, it’s not a “net” million dollars. The person’s net worth is less than one million dollars…

I’m reading the book, The War on Science. The damage done to academia and science by DEI and other malignant Woke bullshit may be irreparable. A society in which many people believe a person can be “born in the wrong body” and “sex is a spectrum” is not going to Mars, curing cancer, or developing nuclear fusion…

As someone who experienced firsthand the cat distribution system, I suggest the world would be a far better place if every child, cat, and dog had a loving home. Yes, it’s perhaps an unrealistic dream, but a worthwhile one, nevertheless.
