The City of Martinez says, “Hold my beer.”

The alphabetization of phony virtue.

If you thought the odious ideology of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) couldn’t get any more cringy or Orwellian, the City of Martinez, California, says, “Hold my beer.”

Not only did the city council recently form and impanel a DEI commission, but they went a look-at-how-wonderful-we-are step further and tacked on the letter “B” for Belonging. That’s right, Martinez now has a DEIB commission! (Lord, I hope this doesn’t set off an alphabet arms race akin to that done with LGB.)

I live in Martinez. Our city council has done dumb things before. By dumb, I mean engaging in performative theater to showcase their phony virtue. Years ago, they passed a resolution against hate. Yes, they formally avowed themselves against a human emotion. The council chambers must’ve then, as now, reeked of sanctimony and self-satisfaction.

I can assure you the amount of hate in Martinez was identical the day before and the day after this moronic resolution was adopted. Humans hate and love. The councilmembers weren’t going to change it one way or the other. Bottom line: The government doesn’t belong in our hearts or minds. Fix the damn potholes, instead.

Opposition to DEI is not a partisan or “right-wing” issue, though the Woke claim otherwise. Sane people of all political stripes throughout the country recognize its harm and are fighting back against the DEI cult, which has infected every level of society (education, science, military, businesses, government). DEI is a component of poisonous Woke ideology and intended to forever stir up racial animus and other deliberate divisiveness. At its core, DEI obsesses over identity politics and assumes your station in life and belief system are entirely based on one’s Woke-determined taxonomic category (e.g., race, sexuality, immigration status). Some of these identities are laughably contrived (e.g., nonbinary gender).

Don’t be fooled by the honied words comprising DEI or DEIB. It is fundamentally a racist and totalitarian ideology. The basic premise of DEI is that White people are evil oppressors and non-Whites are forever victims who are powerless to exercise any control over their destiny. The proponents of DEI are certainly not inclusive, particularly in regards to opinions, as anyone who dares oppose any tenet of Woke orthodoxy quickly finds out. Non-Whites who oppose DEI are called Uncle Toms—and worse. In fact, a cornerstone of DEI is crushing diverse thought and outright excluding anyone who dissents. Heretics, regardless of their identity category, are invariably called right-wing, racists, White supremacists, Nazis, transphobes, among other epithets.

A more accurate definition of DEI is divisiveness, exclusion, and indoctrination. DEI divides, excludes, and indoctrinates. It is Mao’s reeducation camp with a smiley-face Western imprimatur.

Without knowing anything about the DEIB commission members, I’m willing to bet a lot of money the following is true about them (I’d love for them to prove me wrong!):

  • Can’t or won’t define what a woman is and are likely to say, “A woman is anyone who says they are a woman.” Will also insist that “transwomen are real women.”
  • Want children to have access to what is nefariously called “gender-affirming” care, even if it’s done over the objections of parents. (Gender-affirming care is surgical mutilation of healthy body parts, harmful wrong-sex hormones, and chemical sterilizing agents. It is the Woke’s version of the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment)
  • Insist that trying to get a gender-confused person to accept his or her sex/gender is “conversion therapy.” (Yet, mutilation and harmful drugs aren’t.)
  • Declare their pronouns and insist others do likewise. (Don’t be surprised if elected officials and city staff are strongly encouraged to include their pronouns on their email signature line.)
  • Pro-illegal immigrant and insist this community is “fearful.” (The fears of citizens and legal immigrants related to mass illegal immigration? Too effing bad.)
  • Do not want illegal immigrants deported, even if they’ve committed heinous crimes.
  • Support actively thwarting the enforcement of immigration laws (e.g., sanctuary cities).
  • Support censorship of speech not to their liking. (Such speech will be called hate speech or violence.)
  • Want reparations for slavery. (Lord, help us if they come up with an actual cost to taxpayers for this nonsense.)
  • Oppose groups holding public events in Martinez if they aren’t in ideological alignment with Wokeness. (I’d love for Let Women Speak to come to Martinez and hold an event. This commission would oppose it and claim it “doesn’t represent our values”—as if everyone must share their values to the exclusion of all others.)
  • Ask the city to implement a comical Land Acknowledgement. (Here’s an idea: Any councilmember who supports this must transfer all of his or her property to the tribe(s) mentioned in the acknowledgement.)
  • Demand the city fly flags unrelated to the U.S. or state flags.
  • Okay with age-inappropriate materials in schools (e.g., sexually explicit materials related to gender ideology or sexuality).
  • Believe global warming is caused by manmade carbon dioxide and poses an immediate existential threat to the world. (It’s highly likely the commission members have disproportionately large carbon footprints compared to skeptics.)

Whatever lamebrain notions this commission comes up with may become city policy or ordinance. Since Martinez lies in the bluest part of one of the bluest states, the councilmembers are unlikely to go against Woke orthodoxy, so we could see some wild proposals become official city policy.

Martinez has a simpler task of governance compared to many other cities: Providing water, roads, police protection, storm drainage, parks, code enforcement, planning, and building inspections. (Sewer, fire protection, and schools are provided by other governmental agencies.) I encourage them to focus exclusively on the basics rather than be foolishly distracted by Woke nonsense, of which DEI is a key component.

Will they listen. Nope. Of that, I am certain.
